Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for people aged 3 and older who have severe aplastic anemia and have not received treatment before. Those who join will take two medications for 6 months and will have regular check-ins with study staff.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

You may be able to join if

  • I am at least 3 years old
  • I weigh more than 12 kg
  • I have been diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia

You may not be able to join if

  • I have Fanconi anemia or another severe blood disorder
  • I have had previous treatment for severe aplastic anemia
  • My liver function tests are too high
  • I have severe kidney problems
  • I am pregnant or nursing
  • I have a serious heart condition
  • I have an infection that is not responding to treatment

About This Trial
Background: Severe aplastic anemia (SAA) is a rare and serious blood disorder. It causes the immune system to turn against bone marrow cells. Standard treatment for SSA is a combination of 3 drugs (Cyclosporine \[CsA\], Eltrombopag \[EPAG\], and horse anti-thymocyte globulin \[h-ATG\]). Researchers want to see if starting people at a lower dose of CsA with EPAG before giving them h-ATG is helpful…
