Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for adults with mild to moderate asthma to see if the medication dupilumab can help prevent worsening asthma symptoms after getting a cold virus. Participants will receive either dupilumab or a placebo and be exposed to a common cold virus.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

You may be able to join if

  • I am 18 to 40 years old.
  • I have been diagnosed with asthma for at least 6 months.
  • I have mild persistent asthma that is well controlled.
  • I have good lung function (FEV1 >80% predicted).
  • I only use albuterol or low to medium dose inhaled corticosteroids for my asthma.
  • I have a positive methacholine test result.
  • I have a blood eosinophil count of at least 150/µL.
  • I am willing and able to attend clinic visits.

You may not be able to join if

  • I am a current smoker or have a history of heavy smoking.
  • I have a history of COPD or significant lung disease.
  • I am allergic to any ingredients in the study medication.
  • I have received asthma biologic therapy in the last 3 months.
  • I have taken antiviral or immunosuppressive therapies in the last 3 months.
  • I have had a respiratory tract infection in the last 6 weeks.
  • I have had an asthma exacerbation in the last 6 weeks.
  • I am pregnant or breastfeeding.

About This Trial
Often when people with asthma get a virus caused by the common cold (rhinovirus), they also experience an increase or worsening of their asthma symptoms.
