Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for people with mild cognitive impairment or mild Alzheimer's disease. Participants will use different types of light treatment over 8 weeks to see how it affects their condition.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?
Must not be taking Sleep medication

You may be able to join if

  • I have been diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment or mild Alzheimer's disease.
  • I have a Montreal Cognitive Assessment score between 17 and 25.
  • I have sleep disturbances indicated by a score over 5 on the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index.
  • I live in my own home, independent living, or an assisted living facility.

You may not be able to join if

  • I take sleep medication.
  • I live in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care.
  • I have obstructing cataracts, macular degeneration, or blindness.
  • I have severe sleep apnea or restless leg syndrome.
  • I have a history of severe epilepsy.

Participants will randomly be placed into one of four groups and experience one of the four following conditions: (1) a placebo light that provides a 40 hertz (Hz) flicker (rhythmic light \[RL\]); (2) a placebo light with a random flicker (placebo condition for rhythmic light); (3) a light source that will stimulate the circadian system and provides a 40 Hz flicker (RL); or (4) a light source that…
