About This Trial
Paraesophageal hernia causes pain, heartburn, regurgitation, anemia and in extreme, life-threatening strangulation. For symptomatic patients, laparoscopic surgery is offered which includes hiatal defect closure and antireflux surgery. However, recurrence rates are high between 12 and 42%.
