Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for adults who are scheduled to undergo a specific type of blood cell transplant. Participants will receive daily light therapy in their mouth to help prevent painful mouth sores during treatment.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

You may be able to join if

  • I am planned to undergo myeloablative allogeneic HCT.
  • I am 18 years or older.
  • I can understand the study information and sign a consent form.

You may not be able to join if

  • I have had light therapy in my mouth within four weeks of my transplant admission.
  • I have a history of radiation treatment to my head or neck.
  • I have a history of photosensitivity.
  • I am planned to receive palifermin for preventing mouth sores.

About This Trial
This is a single center pilot study evaluating intraoral photobiomodulation for the prevention of oral mucositis in patients undergoing myeloablative allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (alloHCT).
