Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for people with neuropathic pain from a spinal cord injury to participate in training that may help reduce their pain. Taking part involves about 50 visits over roughly 6.5 months.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

You may be able to join if

  • I am neurologically stable and more than 1 year post spinal cord injury.
  • I have medical clearance to participate.
  • I can stand for at least 3 minutes with or without help.
  • I expect my current medication will stay the same for at least 3 months.
  • My neuropathic pain includes the lower leg.

You may not be able to join if

  • I have a motoneuron injury.
  • I have a known cardiac condition.
  • I have a medically unstable condition.
  • I have cognitive impairment.
  • I have uncontrolled peripheral neuropathy.
  • I frequently use electrical spinal stimulation for pain treatment.
  • I use electrical stimulation on my leg daily.
  • I have a complete lack of sensation around my foot.

About This Trial
The purpose of the second part of the study is to examine the effect of reflex training in the leg to decrease neuropathic pain. For this, the researchers are recruiting 15 individuals with neuropathic pain due to spinal cord injury to participate in the reflex training procedure.
