This trial is looking for adults with chronic pain to compare two different treatments: an 8-week program of cognitive behavioral therapy and a one-time pain relief skills session. Participants will either take part in the longer therapy or the shorter session.
You may be able to join if
- I am at least 18 years old.
- I have chronic pain that occurs on at least half of the days for the past 3 months.
- My average pain intensity in the last month has been at least 3 out of 10.
- I can follow and complete the study protocols.
You may not be able to join if
- I cannot provide informed consent.
- I have cognitive impairment or cannot speak English well enough to understand the study.
- I have been actively suicidal, according to my medical records.
- I have a history of disruptive behavior.
- I received either treatment in the past 3 months.
