This trial is looking for children with severe chronic kidney disease who are on hemodialysis. If you join, you will take a supplement containing propionic acid to help understand its effects on the immune system and gut health.
You may be able to join if
- I weigh more than 30 kg.
- I have been diagnosed with stage 5 chronic kidney disease.
- I have been on hemodialysis for more than 3 months.
- I am in a stable clinical condition.
- I developed chronic kidney disease during childhood.
You may not be able to join if
- I have a disease or condition that makes me ineligible.
- I cannot understand the study or its requirements.
- I have an acute infection.
- I have received immunosuppressive therapy in the last 12 weeks.
- I have taken any pre-, pro-, or postbiotics or antibiotics in the last 4 weeks.
- I was hospitalized in the last 4 weeks or am planning to be.
- I have cancer.
- I am pregnant.
