Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for young to middle-aged adults who sleep regularly and are interested in how variations in sleep might affect health. Participants will try different sleep schedules over a 4-week period.

You may be able to join if

  • I am aged 18 to 49 years
  • I have a BMI between 20 and 29.9
  • I usually sleep 7 to 9 hours a night without aids or naps

You may not be able to join if

  • I have a sleep disorder
  • I have a psychiatric disorder or seasonal affective disorder
  • I am pregnant or have been pregnant in the past year
  • I am breastfeeding
  • I smoke or have smoked within the last 3 years
  • I have diabetes
  • I have high blood pressure and take beta-blockers
  • I have taken blood thinners recently

About This Trial
The goal of this clinical trial is to test the impact of repeated intermittent short sleep, with short sleep maintained 5 days per week followed by 2 days of prolonged sleep, compared to daily adequate sleep, on energy balance and cardiometabolic risk.
