This trial is looking for patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer to see if a special treatment can help avoid unnecessary repeated surgeries. If you qualify, you will receive a specific procedure called PDD-TURBT instead of the usual surgery.

You may be able to join if

  • I am at least 18 years old.
  • I have been diagnosed with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.
  • I have been advised to undergo surgery for my bladder cancer.
  • I have not been diagnosed with muscle-invasive bladder cancer.
  • I can provide written consent to participate.

You may not be able to join if

  • I cannot undergo surgery for my condition.
  • I have muscle-invasive bladder cancer.
  • I have evidence of metastatic disease.
  • I have a small, low-risk tumor before my initial surgery.
  • I have visual evidence of muscle-invasive cancer.
  • I have types of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer that do not qualify for surgery.
  • I have tumors in my kidneys or ureters.
  • I am not fit for the required procedures.

Background: In European Association of Urology (EAU) Guidelines, the vast majority of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancers (NMIBCs) undergo a primary transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (TURBT) followed by a repeat TURBT (Re-TURBT).
