Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for people aged 40 and older who have been newly diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Participants will receive treatment to see how it affects their breathing and heart health.

You may be able to join if

  • I am 40 years old or older
  • I have been diagnosed with COPD
  • I have a smoking history of 10 pack-years or more
  • My lung function shows FEV1 between 30-79 percent of what is predicted
  • My FEV1/FVC ratio is less than 70 percent of what is predicted

You may not be able to join if

  • I have an active lung infection
  • I have or had lung cancer
  • I have alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency
  • I have diagnosed interstitial lung disease
  • I have previously been diagnosed with asthma
  • I have chronic hypercapnic respiratory failure
  • I have unstable ischemic heart disease
  • I am pregnant
