Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for adults with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis who are not adequately helped by skin treatments. Participants will receive either the drug methotrexate or a placebo to see how well it works.

You may be able to join if

  • I have atopic dermatitis diagnosed at least 12 months ago.
  • I have moderate to severe atopic dermatitis.
  • I have not responded well to topical treatments for atopic dermatitis.
  • I have been using a stable dose of a topical emollient for at least 7 days.
  • I can provide signed consent to participate.
  • I am covered by health care insurance as per local requirements.

You may not be able to join if

  • I am pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.
  • I have a known allergy to methotrexate or folic acid.
  • I have a history of severe infections or immunodeficiency.
  • I have had any malignancy except non-melanoma skin cancer in the last 5 years.
  • I have liver problems or abnormal liver test results.
  • I have renal impairment with low kidney function.
  • I have been treated with specific immunosuppressive drugs recently.
