This trial is looking for postmenopausal women aged 45 to 70 who want to try Chardonnay Marc powder to see how it affects gut and heart health. Participants will need to follow the study guidelines during the trial.

You may be able to join if

  • I am a postmenopausal female and have not had a period for at least 2 years.
  • I am between 45 and 70 years old.
  • My BMI is between 25 and 49.9.
  • My fasting triglycerides are above 120 mg/dL.
  • I am willing to follow the study protocols.

You may not be able to join if

  • I take daily anticoagulation medications including aspirin or NSAIDs.
  • I follow a vegan or vegetarian diet.
  • I eat more than 3 cups of fruit a day.
  • I eat more than 4 cups of vegetables a day.
  • I drink more than 3 cups of coffee or tea a day.
  • I consume more than 3 oz of dark chocolate a day.
  • I have had heart disease or a stroke.
  • I have a chronic health condition that limits my physical activity.

About This Trial
Recently a dietary recommendation of 400 - 600 mg/ day has been proposed for the reduced risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Dietary flavanols can be obtained from the intake of foods such as tea, cocoa, wine, berries and apples.
