The cause of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is currently unknown, although partly attributed to interactions among genetic risk polymorphisms, environmental factors, gut microbiome, and host immunity. * History of biopsy-proven ulcerative colitis (UC)
* Active symptoms (SCCAI \>2)
