Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria:
* symptomatic carotid stenosis (\> 50%)
* unilateral asymptomatic carotid stenosis (\> 60%)
* bilateral asymptomatic carotid stenosis (\> 60%)
Exclusion Criteria:
* carotid restenosis
* "major surgery" in previous 6 months
* previous brain trauma or surgery
* malignant disease…
