Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for patients who have had a stroke or a mini-stroke and may have invisible heart rhythm problems. Participants will have heart monitors to help detect these issues early.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

You may be able to join if

  • I have had a stroke or mini-stroke since January 2022.
  • I am between 50 and 89 years old.
  • My stroke is of an unknown cause according to certain medical criteria.
  • I have normal results from heart ultrasound tests.
  • I have not had atrial fibrillation detected during a 48-hour heart monitor.
  • I have normal findings from ultrasound of the arteries in my neck.

You may not be able to join if

  • I have had a bleeding stroke before.
  • I have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation or flutter in the past.
  • I cannot take blood thinners for any reason.
  • I have had major surgery or heart events in the past month.
  • I have severe heart problems.
  • I am expected to live less than a year.
  • My stroke was very severe.

About This Trial
Cryptogenic stroke (CS) causes about 30% of admissions to a stroke unit. Silent paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) is believed to be the underlying cause of a significant proportion of patients.
