This trial is looking for adults with severe brain injuries who are in the ICU. Participants will help researchers understand how nutrition affects recovery and energy use.
You may be able to join if
- I am at least 18 years old.
- I have been admitted to the ICU with a severe brain injury.
- I am receiving invasive mechanical ventilation.
- I am willing to sign an informed consent form.
You may not be able to join if
- I am a woman who is pregnant, breastfeeding, or could be pregnant.
- I have severe heart, lung, or kidney disease.
- I have cancer with serious health issues.
- I have a severe immune system problem or am taking strong immunosuppressants.
- I am in critical condition with less than 24 hours to live.
- I am using dialysis or need it soon.
- I have severe burns or serious combined injuries.
