Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for people with Parkinson's disease who want to see if following a Mediterranean diet can help improve their symptoms. Participants will either continue their usual diet or switch to a Mediterranean diet for six months.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

You may be able to join if

  • I have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
  • I am between 40 and 85 years old.
  • I have not taken any Parkinson's medication recently or my dosage has been stable for at least two weeks.
  • I can eat independently.
  • I can understand and sign consent forms.
  • I agree to follow my usual diet during the first part of the trial.
  • I am willing to change my diet to the Mediterranean style if selected.
  • I can provide blood and stool samples for testing.

You may not be able to join if

  • I have atypical or secondary parkinsonism.
  • I am underweight or obese.
  • I am pregnant or think I might be pregnant.
  • I require assisted nutrition.
  • I have chronic autoimmune diseases.
  • I have taken immunosuppressive drugs or cancer drugs in the past year.
  • I have had major abdominal surgeries.
  • I am currently in another trial.
