This trial is looking for adults who have experienced a cardiac arrest outside of a hospital. Participants will be randomly assigned to different methods of defibrillation to see which is most effective.
You may be able to join if
- I am 18 years or older.
- I have experienced a cardiac arrest outside of a hospital.
- Emergency medical services have attempted to defibrillate me at least once.
- My last known heart rhythm was shockable.
- There were two manual defibrillators available on-site.
You may not be able to join if
- I have blunt or penetrating trauma or burn injuries that caused my cardiac arrest.
- I have been enrolled in this trial before.
- My healthcare provider says that placing a pad on my back is not possible.
