Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for pregnant women who are 14 weeks or less along. Participants will be followed throughout their pregnancy and for one year after giving birth to study how diabetes affects the pancreas in mothers and their babies.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

You may be able to join if

  • I am pregnant with one baby
  • I am aged 18 to 54 years
  • I am less than 14 weeks pregnant
  • I am willing to be followed for one year after delivery
  • I plan to stay near Austin for one year after delivery

You may not be able to join if

  • I have any implants that are activated by magnets or machines
  • I have claustrophobia
  • I have other reasons that would prevent me from getting an MRI
  • My BMI is 38.0 or higher
  • My waist is less than 48 cm

About This Trial
Previous studies have shown that pancreas size tends to be smaller in individuals with diabetes compared to those without diabetes. The investigators have recently found that pancreas size increases during pregnancy. The MAMA study aims to examine changes in the pancreas that occur during pregnancy, in both pregnant mothers and their babies, and find out how they are affected by maternal diabetes.…
