This trial is looking for trauma patients who are hospitalized and can communicate in English or Spanish. Participants will receive visits from therapy dogs to help with pain and anxiety during their recovery.

  • I can speak English or Spanish
  • I am able to provide informed consent

You may not be able to join if

  • I am afraid of dogs
  • I am allergic to dogs

  • I am delirious, intubated, or unable to consent

Animal assisted therapy (AAT) with dogs has been shown to be beneficial for a wide range of patients with both acute and chronic illnesses, including spinal cord injuries, heart failure, myocardial infarctions, strokes, cancer, post-traumatic stress disorder, and depression.
