Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for adolescents and young adults aged 13-18 who have Down syndrome and severe sleep apnea. Participants will receive Inspire therapy and will need to attend follow-up visits and complete questionnaires.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

You may be able to join if

  • I have been diagnosed with Down syndrome
  • I am 13-18 years old
  • I have severe obstructive sleep apnea
  • I have tried CPAP or BiPAP and could not use them
  • I cannot have adenotonsillectomy or it didn't work for me
  • I have explored other treatment options for my sleep apnea
  • I am willing to have the device implanted and attend follow-ups

You may not be able to join if

  • My recent sleep study shows that I have too many central or mixed apneas
  • I have an anatomical issue affecting my airway
  • I have a neurological condition affecting my airway control
  • I cannot operate the patient remote without help
  • I am pregnant or planning to become pregnant
  • I have another device that might interfere with the Inspire system
  • I need an MRI not covered by the device's guidelines
  • I have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of less than 12 months

About This Trial

The purpose of this Post Approval research study is to assess ongoing safety and effectiveness of the Inspire therapy in adolescents and young adults (age 13-18) with Down syndrome and severe sleep apnea. The objective of the study is to provide an ongoing safety and effectiveness assessment of the Inspire UAS System in the Pediatric Down syndrome population.

Inclusion Criteria: 1. Patient has been diagnosed with Down syndrome; 2. Patient is 13-18 years of age; 3. Patient has been diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea, with an AHI of ≥ 10 and ≤ 50 based on a recent (within 6 months of enrollment) qualified in-lab sleep study (PSG); 4. Patient ha…
