Who this trial is looking for
This trial is looking for adults who have had a cardiac arrest outside of the hospital and were resuscitated. Participants will receive usual medical care and may be transferred to a specialized hospital for better recovery.
Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?
You may be able to join if
- I have had a cardiac arrest outside of the hospital.
- I was resuscitated and have a pulse in the emergency department.
- I received treatment at one of the participating hospital emergency departments.
- I am at least 18 years old.
You may not be able to join if
- I have prior advanced directives or requested limited critical care.
- I had a dependent functional status before the cardiac arrest.
- My arrest happened in the emergency department more than 4 hours after arrival.
- The cause of my cardiac arrest was traumatic.
- I have opted-out from the SPARC trial.

This randomized clinical trial will determine if adult participants who are in the emergency department after being resuscitated from a cardiac arrest outside of the hospital benefit from care delivered at specialized centers.

Inclusion Criteria:
* Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest
* Resuscitated from cardiac arrest with palpable pulse in the emergency department
* Treated at one of participating hospital emergency departments
* Age ≥18 years
