Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria: * patients ≥70 years * diagnosed with acute cholecystitis, as per the Tokyo guidelines Exclusion Criteria: * prior episodes of cholecystitis or pancreatitis * terminal illness * concurrent diagnosis of acute pancreatitis, cholangitis, bile duct disease, or digestive malignancy
