This trial is looking for adults with sickle cell disease or trait to collect blood and urine samples. The goal is to better understand kidney disease in these individuals.
Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?
You may be able to join if
- I am over 18 years old.
- I have a hemoglobinopathy confirmed by testing.
- I have a kidney function score of 15 mL/min or higher.
- I can be a control if I have no hemoglobinopathy and match the demographics of an enrolled participant.
You may not be able to join if
- I am 66 years old or older.
- I have a kidney function score below 15 mL/min or I am on dialysis.
- I am currently pregnant.
- I am having an active sickle cell pain crisis that requires hospital or emergency room care.
- I have an active cancer requiring treatment.
- I am currently in prison.

Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria:
1. Age over 18 years,
2. Estimated glomerular filtration rate greater than or equal to 15 mL/min,
3. Presence of any hemoglobinopathy (will need to be confirmed by hemoglobin electrophoresis or genetic testing),
