About This Trial
* Background: Postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) are the most common complications after major upper abdominal surgery. PPCs include respiratory infections, severe atelectasis, pleural effusion, bronchospasm, aspiration pneumonitis, pneumothorax, exacerbation of chronic pulmonary condition, and respiratory failure.
