Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for patients with kidney cancer or poorly functioning kidneys who are considering surgery. Participants will undergo either laparoscopic or open kidney surgery and will be monitored for recovery, side effects, and costs associated with each type of surgery.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

You may be able to join if

  • I have an American Society of Anesthesiology score of 1-3.
  • I need simple total nephrectomy or hemi nephrectomy due to a benign non-functioning kidney.
  • I need partial nephrectomy for a localized kidney mass of 7 cm or smaller.
  • I need radical nephrectomy for a localized tumor without major blood vessel invasion.
  • I am able to undergo general anesthesia and surgery.
  • I can provide written informed consent.

You may not be able to join if

  • I need emergency surgery.
  • I am dependent on dialysis.
  • I have incomplete medical data.
  • I have metastatic disease.
  • I had extensive surgery in the same abdominal area before.
  • I need another major surgery at the same time.
  • I have locally advanced cancer with major blood vessel involvement.
  • I have a bleeding disorder that is not corrected.
