Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for adults with type 2 diabetes who are not meeting their blood sugar goals despite treatment. Participants will take either the study drug or a placebo and undergo regular check-ups during the study.

You may be able to join if

  • I am between 18 and 75 years old.
  • I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
  • I have been treated with diet and 1 to 3 diabetes medications for at least 3 months.
  • I have an A1c level between 7.5% and 10.5%.
  • I have a body mass index (BMI) of 32 or less.
  • I can provide written consent and follow study procedures.

You may not be able to join if

  • I have type 1 diabetes.
  • I have had diabetic ketoacidosis in the past 6 months.
  • I have a history of severe hypoglycemia requiring help in the past 6 months.
  • I have had a positive autoantibody test in the last 60 days.
  • I have a family history of MEN1.
  • I have fasting triglycerides of 500 mg/dL or more.
  • I have impaired kidney function.
  • I have impaired liver function.
