Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for adults who are having elective thoracic surgery. Participants will receive different types of nerve blocks to see how they affect pain and opioid use after the surgery.

You may be able to join if

  • I am between 18 and 75 years old
  • I have an ASA score of I to III
  • I have a body mass index (BMI) under 35
  • I am scheduled for elective video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS)

You may not be able to join if

  • I have an ASA score of 4 or higher
  • I have a BMI of 35 or higher
  • I decline to give written consent
  • I have contraindications for the nerve block
  • I cannot undergo the nerve block application
  • I have a history of neurological or peripheral nerve disease
  • I have a history of chronic opioid use
  • I have severe liver or kidney failure

About This Trial

This present study aims is to compare the effects of ultrasound-guided paravertebral block, intertransverse process block, and erector spinae plane block on postoperative opioid consumption, and pain scores in patients undergoing VATS.
