Inclusion Criteria:
* patients with a hepatocellular carcinoma suitable for RFA
* tumor measuring up to 3 cm in diameter
* ASA I, II, or III
Exclusion Criteria:
* candidates for surgery
* chronic immunosuppressive medication
* contraindications to any of the study medications
