This trial is looking for people aged 18 and older who have had a heart attack. Participants will have blood tests to check for certain proteins related to heart damage.

You may be able to join if
- I am 18 years old or older
- I have had an acute heart attack
- I may or may not have heart failure
- I have symptoms like shortness of breath or swelling
- I have been diagnosed with heart failure using imaging
- I am a man aged 60 or older without heart disease

- I cannot give consent
- I have had any surgery in the last 3 months

About This Trial
The purpose of this research is to determine if two proteins in the blood are increased during acute myocardial infarction and whether their levels are higher in those who develop heart failure than those who do not. These two proteins are produced and potentially released when the heart muscle is damaged. They may then be released into the blood and be detected by standard method in the research …

Inclusion Criteria:
* men and women, 18 years of age and over with acute myocardial infarction (determined by positive cardiac markers -CKMB/ troponin) with or without heart failure (dyspnea, rales, edema, elevated jugular venous pressure, ascites).
