Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for premenopausal women with early-stage breast cancer or BRCA mutations. Participants will answer questions about their health and menstrual cycles, and provide blood samples to check hormone levels before, during, and after cancer treatment.

You may be able to join if

  • I am a woman aged 18 to 45.
  • I have been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer or have a BRCA mutation.
  • I have regular menstrual cycles.
  • I am premenopausal.
  • I have no prior ovarian surgery.
  • I have not received chemotherapy before.
  • I am starting specific cancer treatments.
  • I have not had a known infertility issue.

You may not be able to join if

  • I have previously had therapy for breast cancer or any other cancer.
  • I have had ovarian surgery or radiation to my pelvic region.
  • I plan to have surgery to remove my ovaries within a year after chemotherapy.
  • I am currently pregnant.
  • I have a family history of menopause before age 40.
  • I have known infertility.
  • I have had more than one irregular menstrual cycle in the past year.
  • I am a current smoker.

About This Trial
The purpose of this study is to learn more about the effects of your BRCA mutation on the ovaries. The BRCA gene can make it hard to conceive a child in the future. It may also bring on early menopause. The researchers will check blood levels of hormones that the ovaries produce.
