Who this trial is looking for
This trial is looking for people with Parkinson's disease who may be at risk of developing dementia. Participants will undergo brain imaging to help understand different types of dementia in these patients.
Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?
You may be able to join if
- I have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease
- I have three of the following symptoms: rest tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia, or postural instability
- I have two of these symptoms, with one being more pronounced on one side
You may not be able to join if
- I have a history of head trauma
- I have major neurological or psychiatric conditions besides Parkinson's disease and dementia
- I have severe systemic diseases
- I cannot lie still for 90 minutes
- I have metallic implants or a pacemaker
- I refuse to consent to brain donation

About This Trial
The purpose of this study is to use a brain imaging method called Pittsburgh B (PIB) Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Vesicular Cholinergic Transport (VAT) PET to determine dementia subtypes in patients with Parkinson disease (PD). Inclusion Criteria:
* PD patients must exhibit three of the following cardinal signs: rest tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia, or postural instability; or two of these features with one of the first three displaying asymmetry.
