Who this trial is looking for
This trial is looking for individuals who are recovering from their first stroke and are currently in rehabilitation. Participants will help researchers understand how recovery and compensation for movement can change over time.
Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?
You may be able to join if
- I am early post-stroke (within 15-30 days)
- I have had my first stroke
- I have weakness on one side of my body
- I am currently receiving inpatient rehabilitation
- I can follow simple one-step commands
- I can provide informed consent
- I have medical clearance to participate
You may not be able to join if
- I have uncontrolled heart or lung disease that limits exercise
- I have high resting blood pressure (greater than 200/110 mmHg)
- I have uncontrolled diabetes
- I have end-stage kidney disease
- I have another condition that limited my walking before the stroke

The proposed research will characterize of the time course of neurological and locomotor recovery as well as development of compensatory strategies throughout sub-acute and chronic phases post stroke. Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion criteria:
* individuals early post-stroke (\<15-30 days)
* first ever stroke
* unilateral hemiparesis
* currently receiving inpatient rehabilitation
* ability to follow 1-step commands
* provision of informed consent
