This trial is looking for adults with type 1 diabetes to learn about a medication called semaglutide. Participants will receive this medication to see how it affects their heart and kidney health.

You may be able to join if
- I am between 18 and 49 years old
- I have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
- I use an insulin pump or automated insulin delivery system
- My kidney function is stable
- I take stable doses of certain heart or kidney medications
- My body mass index (BMI) is between 20 and 45
- I use an adequate contraceptive method if I am female
You may not be able to join if
- My HbA1c is above 9%
- I have had recent diabetic ketoacidosis or hospitalization
- I have severe eye issues or major heart disease
- I have a history of certain thyroid or pancreatic conditions
- I am currently pregnant or nursing
- I have uncontrolled thyroid disease or high blood pressure
- I have used certain diabetes medications or steroids recently
- I am allergic to shellfish or iodine

Inclusion Criteria:
* Age 18-49 years
* 1\) T1D diagnosis defined as positive T1D-associated antibody(ies) or 2) a clinical diagnosis of T1D plus insulin requirement since diagnosis
