Who this trial is looking for
This trial is looking for Veterans who identify as LGBTQ+ and are experiencing anxiety or depression. Participants will take part in a brief writing program over three sessions to help address their feelings related to stress from their minority identity.
Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?
You may be able to join if
- I identify as a sexual minority (LGBTQ+)
- I have significant symptoms of depression or anxiety
- I have experienced stress related to my sexual identity
- I have been stable on my mental health medication for at least 4 weeks
You may not be able to join if
- I have a current plan or intention to harm myself
- I am experiencing unstable mania or psychosis
- I have a severe substance use disorder
- I have significant cognitive impairment

About This Trial
Sexual minority stressors (e.g., sexual minority identity-based discrimination) contribute to greater risk for and severity of depression, anxiety, substance use disorders and suicide among sexual minority Veterans. Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria:
Participants will be Veterans who:
* identify as a sexual minority (i.e., identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, queer, or another identity other than heterosexual)
* endorse clinically significant depressive or anxiety symptoms (score above 10 on the PHQ-9 or GAD-7)
