This trial is looking for adults who had a stroke and have moderate to severe disability before it. Participants will compare two treatment options: a procedure to remove blood clots or regular medical care without the procedure.
You may be able to join if
- I am at least 18 years old
- I have moderate-to-severe disability before my stroke
- I came to the hospital within 24 hours of my last known well time
- I have been diagnosed with an acute ischemic stroke
- I have a blockage in certain blood vessels in my brain
- I have a score of at least 3 on a specific brain scan
- I have a stroke scale score of 6 or more
- I can give my consent or have a representative who can
You may not be able to join if
- I have terminal cancer or a terminal illness
- My pre-stroke functional status cannot be assessed in the hospital
- My pre-stroke disability is temporary, in the doctor's opinion
