This trial is looking for overweight or obese adults who have asthma that is not well-controlled, even with their current treatment. Participants will take Metformin to see if it helps improve their asthma symptoms.

Must be taking Maintenance inhaler therapy
Must not be taking Glucagon Like Peptide 1 (GLP-1) medicationsMetformin
Rules you out Diabetes

You may be able to join if

  • I have been diagnosed with asthma.
  • I am at least 18 years old.
  • I have asthma that is not well-controlled.
  • I have a body mass index of 25 or higher.

You may not be able to join if

  • I am currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • I have had major heart issues in the last 6 months.
  • I have another chronic lung disease.
  • I am a current smoker or a former heavy smoker.
  • I have chronic kidney disease.
  • I drink heavily each week.
  • I have liver disease.
  • I have anemia.

This is a randomized clinical trial of metformin among overweight or obese adults with not well-controlled asthma despite maintenance inhaler therapy.
