Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for adults with treatment resistant depression who have not improved with other treatments. Participants will receive a new type of brain stimulation as part of their care.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

You may be able to join if

  • I have been diagnosed with non-psychotic unipolar Major Depressive Disorder.
  • I have been in a major depressive episode for at least 12 months or have had at least 3 depressive episodes in my life.
  • I have tried and not improved with at least four different types of antidepressant treatments.
  • My depression medication has been stable for at least 4 weeks before starting this trial.

You may not be able to join if

  • I am pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the study.
  • I have other medical or psychological conditions that may affect my participation.
  • I have a history of psychotic features in any Major Depressive Episode.
  • I have a brain disease that affects my function or requires regular medication.
  • I am at significant risk of suicide.
  • I have a Substance Use Disorder or Alcohol Use Disorder not in remission for at least 12 months.
  • I am currently using a neurostimulation treatment that may interfere with this trial.
  • I am being treated with another investigational device or drugs.

About This Trial

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of bilateral stimulation of the subcallosal cingulate white matter (SCCwm) using Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) as an adjunctive treatment of non-psychotic unipolar Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in adults.
