Who this trial is looking for
This trial is looking for older adults with chronic kidney disease who have been hospitalized. Participants will help improve recovery from muscle weakness after being in the hospital through exercise and monitoring.
Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?
You may be able to join if
- I am over 55 years old.
- I have stage 3-4 chronic kidney disease or an eGFR less than 45.
You may not be able to join if
- I have poorly controlled high blood pressure over 160/100.
- I have had a heart attack in the past 6 months.
- I have congestive heart failure class III or IV.
- I have chest pain while resting or exercising.
- I passed out in the past year without knowing why.
- I have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease that requires home oxygen.
- I have a history of significant spinal osteoarthritis or stenosis.
- I have dementia.

About This Trial
The aging Veteran population has more frequent inpatient hospitalization than non-Veterans. In addition, older Veterans have an inability to fully recover muscle mass and function after hospital-acquired weakness. Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria:
* Age \> 55 years
* Diagnosis of stage 3-4 CKD or an eGFR of \<45 mL/min/1.73m2
Exclusion Criteria:
* Cardiovascular risk: Poorly controlled hypertension (\>160/100)
* Coronary event in past 6 months
* Class III or IV CHF
