This trial is looking for patients who have had a minor stroke or are at high risk for a transient ischemic attack (TIA) and are currently in the hospital. Participants will undergo genetic testing to help doctors decide on the best medications during their hospital stay.
You may be able to join if
- I am between 18 and 89 years old
- I have symptoms of a minor ischemic stroke or high-risk TIA
- I am admitted to the University of Alabama at Birmingham hospital
- I can receive a dual antiplatelet load
- I was admitted within 66 hours of my last known well time
You may not be able to join if
- I have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation
- I have valvular heart disease
- My index stroke was due to known hypercoagulability
- My index stroke was due to large vessel disease
- I was prescribed anticoagulation before the stroke
- I was treated with intravenous thrombolysis
- I was treated with mechanical thrombectomy
- My NIH Stroke Scale score is missing
