This trial is looking for adults with asthma who are having an attack and need treatment in the emergency department. Participants will receive either an injection of dexamethasone or a 5-day course of prednisone.
You may be able to join if
- I am at least 18 years old.
- I have been diagnosed with asthma.
- I am having an asthma attack.
- I will start medications for my asthma during my visit.
- I can speak English or Spanish.
You may not be able to join if
- I am currently taking systemic corticosteroids.
- I have had severe reactions to corticosteroids.
- I have heart failure.
- I have uncontrolled diabetes.
- I am pregnant or breastfeeding.
- I cannot provide informed consent.
