Who this trial is looking for

This trial is looking for adults with type 2 diabetes who aren't able to control their blood sugar well while taking metformin. Participants will receive either the new medication CX11 or a placebo for 24 weeks, followed by a 2-week follow-up.

You may be able to join if

  • I am between 18 and 75 years old.
  • I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for at least 6 months.
  • My HbA1c is between 7.0% and 10.5%.
  • My BMI is between 23 and 50 kg/m².
  • My body weight has been stable for the past 3 months.
  • I have been taking a stable dose of metformin for at least 3 months.
  • I agree to avoid grapefruit products.
  • I am using effective contraception if I can get pregnant.

You may not be able to join if

  • I have had any change in medications that affect weight or blood sugar in the past 14 days.
  • I have type 1 diabetes or a history of diabetic ketoacidosis.
  • I have used insulin in the past 12 months.
  • I have experienced more than one episode of severe low blood sugar.
  • I have had a heart attack or stroke in the past 6 months.
  • I have active pancreatitis or gallbladder disease.
  • I have a cancer diagnosis in the past 5 years.
  • I have uncontrolled diabetic eye disease.

About This Trial
This study is testing whether a new medication called CX11 works and is safe for participants with type 2 diabetes who have not reached good blood sugar control while taking a steady dose of metformin, with or without a steady dose of an SGLT2 inhibitor, for at least 90 days.
